Inspired by a special edition of The Tale of the Sands, produced in 1980 – and limited to just fifty copies – we have teamed up with a wonderful print-making collective in Bristol. Our plan is to hand-set the texts of six stories by Idries Shah, to illustrate them with new lino-cuts, and to release them next year.
One hundred copies of each tale will be printed on special A3 paper – each one in its own clamshell box. Fifty copies of every story will be made for sale, the proceeds going in entirety to the Books for Afghan Children Project. The remaining fifty copies of each story will be presented to leading supporters of The Idries Shah Foundation.
As the Hand-printed Stories Project continues at an unrushed pace, we will keep you informed with how it’s going, and post pictures of the printing process.
